Helping Hands
MOMS Club of Springfield, VA is chapter of the International MOMS
Club - the first, largest and fastest growing support group specifically
for ALL at-home mothers. To meet the challenges and adventures of
being a mother, we arrange playgroups, activities, field trips and
MOMS Nights Out. All our activities are during the day, when at-home
mothers most need support. You may bring your children with you
to all meetings.
History
The MOMS Club was started in California by a stay-at-home mom tired
of being isolated all day. She wanted to meet other stay-at-home
moms and wanted to find other at-home children for her children
to play with. When she could not find any organization that met
during the day and allowed her to come with her baby and preschooler,
she decided to start MOMS Club.
The chapter she started was so successful, she knew mothers in
other areas must be needing the MOMS Club, too. Soon she and other
volunteers were helping mothers start MOMS Clubs across the country
and around the world!
The MOMS Club of Springfield, VA local chapter includes mothers
in Springfield and Lorton, Virginia, so all members live in your
community. Our chapter was started in November 2001 and now includes
over 50 moms.
Every activity we organize is for our members and their children.
This is an opportunity to meet other stay-at-home moms and for your
children to meet new friends and have fun. Whether you are a new
mom, mom of many, or mom new to Springfield or Lorton, we welcome
you.
Leadership
The MOMS Club is led by members who volunter their time and energy
to be Executive Board Members. The Board meets once a month to discuss

Toddler and Preschool Playgroup Coordinators, Webmaster, Daytime Events

Book Club
The Book Club meets every other month to discuss the most recent
book selection. All members are welcome to attend any meeting. Selections
are made from among members' suggestions and will be announced ASAP
after each book club meeting.
Our next meeting is June 4. Contact Carrie D. to get involved.
Walking Club
The Walking Club meets a couple of times per week at various park
or mall locations in the surrounding area. We walk together for
about 30-45 minutes. Some of the locations have playgrounds and
the kids have enjoyed the chance to run around following our walks.
Specific dates, times and locations are listed on each monthly calendar.
We are open to ideas for new locations, additional times, etc.
Other Activity Group Ideas
Any MOMS Club of Springfield member can start her own Activity Group.
Some ideas that have been mentioned include Arts & Crafts, Scrapbooking,
and Recipe Swap. If you'd like to start one of these or have an
activity group idea of your own, contact the Chapter President,
Chrissie A., to
discuss the details. You can then contact the Chapter members via
email or by announcement at a General Meeting.
Helping Hands
Helping Hands offers support to MOMS Club Springfield Chapter members
who have just had a baby, surgery, are on bedrest, or have had a
death in the family, etc. Member volunteers provide meals, babysitting,
and send cards when needed. Volunteering members will be contacted
as help is needed.
Please contact Nicole N. if you are a member that needs some help
or if you know of a member that could use some extra support. This
